Matt McErlane

Matt McErlane is a Managing Director in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice at FTI Consulting. Matt specialises in advising companies, as well as their lenders, sponsors and other stakeholders, during periods of financial stress and distress.

Matt has worked across a broad range of restructuring and special situations assignments, including options analysis, contingency planning, M&A transactions, restructuring plans, company voluntary arrangements and formal insolvency processes. He has advised on both large, complex corporate mandates and regional mid-market situations, with particularly deep experience in retail and adjacent consumer-facing sectors.

Matt is also a trusted advisor to boards and management teams, having led a number of corporate-side roles and secondments where he worked closely alongside executive leadership and external advisors through critical situations.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Matt was a Director at PwC, where he held senior roles on a number of high-profile UK restructuring assignments.

• Served as an advisor to National Car Parks
• Served as the buy-side advisor for a UK kitchen manufacturer during its pre-pack acquisition of a competitor
• Served as the lead advisor to River Island for its restructuring plan
• Served as lead advisor to Bestway (Bargain Booze) for its company voluntary arrangement
• Served as lead advisor to Belfield on a transaction ultimately delivered through pre-packaged administration
• Served as lead advisor to Smiffys on a transaction ultimately delivered through pre-packaged administration
• Served as lead advisor to Wilko pre-administration and subsequently delivered the trading administration process
