Andreas Knapp

Andreas Knapp is a civil engineer with over more than 20 years’ experience in the construction and plant engineering industry and 13 years’ experience advising clients on quantum and delay matters. Mr. Knapp specialises in expert witness services with a focus on cost analysis, claims management and analysis of disrupted projects. He is experienced in writing and presenting expert reports in arbitrations and has testified as an expert witness in arbitration and participated in cross-examinations and expert conferencing. His involvement in national and international arbitration proceedings since 2015 has been based on the DIS, VIAC, FAI and ICC arbitration rules.

Mr. Knapp’s expertise spans various industries, including industrial plants, rail technology, power and utilities, renewable energy and infrastructure, both domestically and internationally. He has a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges that arise in these sectors, which allows him to provide effective and targeted advice to his clients.

Previous to his dispute works, Mr. Knapp was employed by several well-known German construction companies, where he worked on a wide range of projects such as dams, tunnels, bridges, buildings and power plants, both domestically and internationally, with values up to €380 million. In these roles, he gained extensive experience in tendering, contract analysis and risk evaluation, as well as claims management in civil engineering and mechanical erection work. As a result of his comprehensive costing expertise as a cost estimator, he is particularly well suited to analyse and evaluate complex cost structures and the underlying cost bases.

Since 2013, Mr. Knapp has advised clients from different industrial sectors for projects in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherland, Sweden, Finland and Saudi Arabia on quantum and delay matters, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted expert in his field. His international experience and knowledge enable him to navigate complex disputes with confidence.

Relevant Experience:

• Assisted a rail transportation technology expert in preparing an expert report on project delays for a commuter train project in Austria; supported and participated in a hearing
• Prepared an expert report and participated in a hearing related to the replacement of emergency diesel generators at a nuclear power plant in Finland
• Performed an assessment of claims from subcontractors and the client, and prepared an expert report for quantum for a steam boiler plant in Germany
• Assisted an expert in preparing an expert report on the mechanical and piping works on a furnace section of a galvanizing plant in Belgium for delay and quantum; participated in the hearing
• Supported an expert in preparing an expert report on an offshore wind energy project in Germany for delay and quantum
