About Brian
Brian Martin has more than 15 years of experience, including more than a decade at FTI Consulting fulfilling leadership roles on many high-profile company-side client engagements. Mr. Martin has led workstreams focused on cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, interim management, performance improvement and strategic alternatives.
Mr. Martin has advised companies, sponsors and lenders in restructuring transactions, interim finance roles, strategic transactions and bankruptcy strategy, business plan assessments, carve-outs and financial reporting capabilities. He has served as financial advisor to middle-market and large-cap organizations undergoing pivotal transformations in a variety of industries including technology, manufacturing, retail, mining, travel and leisure, grocery and financial services.
Mr. Martin has extensive experience providing advisory roles to C-suite executives in restructuring transactions, helping these management teams maintain liquidity, retain employees, meet court-mandated requirements and emerge successfully from Chapter 11.
Mr. Martin has significant experience with corporate finance functions in his engagements, including financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”) services, liquidity and cash management and financial reporting. Mr. Martin has taken interim roles including serving as interim Treasurer for a $1.5 billion transportation technology and government contracting business. He has advised private equity-owned businesses in strategic FP&A matters.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Martin worked in a global financial services firm’s mortgage originations unit. Mr. Martin held assignments in pricing, warehouse lending and credit, product risk, account management and FP&A.
Relevant Experience:
- Served as interim treasure for a $1.5 billion government contractor and transportation technology business
- Served as an overall project lead for FTI Consulting in its capacity as financial advisor to The Hertz Corporation in its Chapter 11 process; this groundbreaking restructuring achieved an unprecedented recovery to all creditors and equity holders.
- Served as financial advisor for Claire’s Stores, Inc. in a highly successful Chapter 11 process that deleveraged the company’s balance sheet by almost $2 billion while retaining 100% of its key employees
- Advised other company-side matters including Armstrong Energy; Frontier Communications; Ocwen Financial; Quiksilver; Southeastern Grocers; Sungard AS; a confidential PE-owned equipment rental business; a confidential PE-owned and operated steel manufacturer; a confidential multi-billion-dollar real-estate business; a confidential international steel manufacturer; and two clean-energy engine and vehicle manufacturers.
