James Mazzone

James Mazzone has more than 10 years of professional experience across a broad range of project and stakeholder management roles within corporate insolvency and restructuring consulting services in Australia.

James helps clients across a broad range of industries navigate financial challenges by applying his commercial experience and technical knowledge to restructuring matters and other complex business problems in a time-critical manner.

James’ professional experience includes managing some of Australia’s largest and most complex restructuring and insolvency assignments for both ASX-listed and large private companies in the retail, mining, logistics and property development sectors. He managed various insolvency recovery actions, such as insolvent trading claims, voidable transactions and public examinations. He also led the forensic investigations into 17 entities operating a labour hire tax fraud that defrauded the ATO of more than AUD80 million and the subsequent recovery actions.

James focuses on supporting banking clients and their customers, other financiers and stakeholders in the formulation and implementation of strategies and initiatives to recover assets and manage and recover debt facilities.

Relevant Experience:

• Led board advisory engagements, including safe harbour and solvent wind down strategies, for ASX-listed businesses
• Provided independent business reviews and opinions on solvency for various large private companies
• Managed the voluntary administration and restructure through a Deed of Company Arrangement for an ASX-listed nickel mine and an ASX-listed gold mine
• Managed various real property and other asset receiverships, advising and assisting in recovering secured assets for the benefit of secured creditors
