Nick Carmichael

Nick Carmichael is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance segment and is based in London. Nick specialises in advising listed, private and PE-owned companies and creditors in restructuring situations.

Nick has advised numerous stakeholder groups across many industries, including commodities and commodity traders of various types, real estate, oil and gas, steel, technology, logistics, chemicals and infrastructure. Nick also has significant experience successfully navigating challenging timetables and market conditions, as well as underlying corporate liquidity and performance issues. His expertise includes crisis management and stabilisation, strategic operational and financial assessments, options analysis, capital raising and structuring, balance sheet restructuring and stakeholder management.

Nick has advised on a wide range of financing products and structures, including corporate and leveraged loans, direct lending and unitranche, bonds and project finance facilities. He has significant experience navigating complex dynamics between boards, shareholders and creditors and has managed interactions with other relevant intercreditor positions arising from varied and complicated legal and security structures.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Nick was a partner in PwC’s Financial Restructuring practice in London. He spent the first half of his career in investment banking, holding senior origination and execution roles in the leveraged finance teams of several major North American and European investment banks.
