Dr. Sebastian Schmitz brings more than a decade of experience in digital forensics, risk advisory and e-discovery. Dr. Schmitz advises clients from a wide range of industries and the public sector with expertise across digital forensics best practices and investigative strategies to respond to complex, high-stakes legal and regulatory inquiries.

Dr. Schmitz supports companies in Germany and internationally with compliance and forensic matters, focusing on digital forensics and e-discovery and ensuring the defensible acquisition, processing and analysis of unstructured electronical information. He brings extensive expertise in tailoring and implementing powerful solutions in a wide range of sectors and for a variety of digital risk matters in corporate environments and in the public sector.

With his years of experience in the field of forensic investigations, Dr. Schmitz has supervised many e-discovery projects and led case management and quality control. In practice, he covers cases such as investigations of economic crime, unauthorized transfers of intellectual property and sensitive company data, financial irregularities and the clarification of other compliance-related issues.

Prior to joining FTI Technology, Dr. Schmitz gained his experience with forensic technologies and value creation based on large datasets at Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers. His forensic mindset is rooted in his previous career in law enforcement.
