William Pan

William Pan is a Senior Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance segment, based in Hong Kong. With more than two decades of experience in restructuring and insolvency across Asia and globally, Mr. Pan advises private equity and credit funds, bondholders, and corporations on some of the most complex and high-stakes financial situations in the region.

Mr. Pan’s practice spans the full restructuring lifecycle — from independent financial advisory and interim management mandates to enforcement, receivership and liquidation. He is particularly recognized for his work representing lenders and distressed asset funds in cross-border insolvency and special situations engagements, having operated across jurisdictions including Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Australia, Luxembourg, France, the United States and Argentina. In recent years, Mr. Pan has worked closely with private equity and multinational corporations on strategic divestments and operational wind-downs across Asia, guiding clients through the legal, financial and operational complexities of exiting markets or restructuring their regional footprints.

Mr. Pan’s experience includes a number of landmark matters. He was retained by a listed Indonesian conglomerate to advise on a scheme of arrangement involving the restructuring of more than USD2 billion in defaulted bonds, and advised a lender group on the successful restructuring of a Hong Kong-listed healthcare and life sciences company. His broader portfolio of high-profile engagements includes China South City, Goldin Financial, Shagang Shipping, China Properties Group, Cheung Kei Group, Lehman Brothers Australia, Fullerton Health, Noble Group and LDK Solar Co. Limited, among others.

Beyond advisory work, Mr. Pan has undertaken forensic and fraud review assignments on behalf of government bodies and brings deep expertise in formal insolvency appointments — including Court and out-of-court liquidations, provisional liquidations, bankruptcy and court-appointed receiverships. He is a registered Appointment Taker under the Administrative Panel of Insolvency Practitioners for Hong Kong Court Winding-Ups.

Mr. Pan holds a B. Comm. in Accounting and Business Law from Macquarie University and regularly facilitates the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Insolvency Preparatory Course, reflecting his ongoing commitment to developing insolvency expertise across the profession.
