James Bracken

Jim Bracken is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Risk & Investigations practice within the Forensic and Litigation Consulting segment, where he provides investigative, compliance and analytic solutions to clients across an array of industries, including legal and financial services, consumer goods and technology. An experienced private investigator, Mr. Bracken offers his clients decision advantages by providing intelligence and analysis that allows them to critically assess and mitigate legal, financial, regulatory and reputational risks.

Mr. Bracken is an expert in identifying, collecting and analyzing information and intelligence from a variety of sources, including public records, commercial databases, social media and witnesses. Mr. Bracken applies his expertise in a variety of contexts, including background investigations of business counterparties, due diligence on prospective investment targets, litigation support, internal investigations following allegations of fraud or misconduct, asset searches for creditors seeking to attach a judgment, investigative research in defense of activist investors and hostile acquirers and internal controls testing.

Mr. Bracken also specializes in implementing and executing monitorships, trusteeships and independent consultancies resulting from consent orders, settlements and regulatory decrees, especially those related to anti-money laundering (“AML”) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) sanctions.

Prior to FTI Consulting, Mr. Bracken was a director in the business intelligence and investigations practice of Kroll Associates. He joined Kroll as an analyst, initially responsible for vendor integrity investigations on some of New York City’s largest construction projects. Subsequently, Mr. Bracken served as the lead analyst on large-scale brand integrity and anti-counterfeiting matters, where his analysis of data and procurement of intelligence led to multimillion dollar judgments for his clients. While at Kroll, Mr. Bracken also managed matters such as due diligence investigations, asset searches, internal investigations and contests for corporate control.

Mr. Bracken received an M.Sc. in decision sciences, with distinction, from The London School of Economics and a B.A. in philosophy, cum laude, from New York University. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and is licensed as a private investigator in the State of New York.
