Sergio Alonso

Sergio Alonso has 15 years of experience as a manager and advisor in restructuring, consulting and investing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sergio has worked as interim manager for companies backed by private equity and private capital, executed and advised on small- to large-cap transactions and performed independent business reviews (“IBRs”) and liquidity assessments. Additionally, he has worked on several financial due diligence, strategic decision-making and consulting projects.

Sergio has acted as interim CEO, CFO and CRO and advised clients in complex and distressed situations across a wide range of industries, including complex manufacturing, paper, construction and construction materials, oil and gas, energy and renewables.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Sergio served as Vice President on the investment team of Sherpa Capital, a Spanish small- and mid-cap private equity firm focused on special situations. Previously, he was an associate on the investment team of MBO&CO, a French private equity firm focused on the mid-market, and an associate at Accuracy. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of roles at a family-owned engineering and installation business, including leading its international development and restructuring.

Throughout his career, Sergio has worked with large multinational groups, top-tier private equity and private capital funds, and Spanish and international banks. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

Relevant Experience:

• Served as interim CFO of a €1 billion PE-backed aerostructures manufacturer, leading lender negotiations and a partial business closure
• Served as the lender-sponsored CRO of a Spanish paper mill
• Served as CTO and CFO of a European utility’s Spanish solar and storage division, including leading its portfolio divestment
• Served as CRO of a multinational visual effects company with more than 6,000 employees
• Served as a member of the Office of the CEO at CELSA, a €6 billion steel producer, and as CRO of its Nordic division during its creditor takeover
• Built a liquidity model and improved liquidity for a €1.5 billion PE-owned tech company in Paris
• Set up cash forecasting and controls for a €2 billion Belgian chemicals group
• Served as CFO and acting CEO of a PE-owned cement plant; restructured its debt with more than 200 creditors
• Served as interim CFO and a member of the Office of the CEO of a PE-owned Spanish steelmaker, leading its distressed sale and €700 million balance sheet restructuring
