Our Role
A multi-stage investigation across traditional and cryptocurrency assets
At first, the team conducted investigations on electronic data, including emails, server logs, data repositories and data recovered from corporate laptops in conjunction with other financial information. This preliminary investigation allowed the team to establish an evidence trail of potential misappropriation. Later, FTI Consulting was engaged to search for the misappropriated assets.
Experts uncovered and identified assets held by the subject of the investigation (an employee) and by his circle of influence, including real estate assets, shares and holdings in companies and cryptocurrency operations.
Experts analysed and reviewed documents through e-discovery platforms, reconstructed illicit activities and mapped connections through the forensic analysis of laptops, server logs and entry/exit system logs, and traced embezzled funds by analysing financial data.
The team employed expert business intelligence gathering from trusted field sources, with searches across a broad range of public databases and within specialised databases for possible exchanges with cryptocurrency sites and financial institutions.
