About Stuart
Stuart Amor is a Senior Managing Director based in London. Dr. Amor acts as an expert witness, focussing on damages in the energy and natural resource sectors. He has been engaged in more than 30 disputes and given oral testimony more than 15 times. Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2016, he spent over 20 years as either a head of research or an investment analyst at various investment banks where he advised investors and corporates on valuation issues.
Dr. Amor has assessed damages in investment treaty claims and contractual disputes. These have included expropriation claims, lost profits cases, post-acquisition warranty claims and fair value determinations. He has also opined on the appropriate increase in cost recovery limits of production sharing contracts, the likelihood that a drilling company could have raised capital during a certain period, the valuation of an oil and gas construction company at its IPO, as well as on an Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries member’s forecast oil production. He has been engaged by various parties, either as an advisor or expert determiner, in expert determinations.
Dr. Amor is recognized as a ‘Global Elite Thought Leader’ in Lexology's 2024 and 2025 Energy Experts ranking. He is recognised as being extremely knowledgeable about energy disputes, capable of explaining highly complex issues in a clear and compelling way. He is also recommended in Lexology 2024 and 2025 Arbitration Expert Witness ranking.
Dr. Amor also has extensive capital raising experience. At Credit Suisse, he was the lead investment analyst on both Lukoil’s and Gazprom’s IPOs. While he was the Global Head of Equity Research at ING, Stuart oversaw the deal related research and valuation in over a dozen other transactions in various sectors. At RFC Ambrian, he focussed on raising capital for African exploration and production companies.
Dr. Amor holds an M.i.M. in Management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Chicago and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) charter holder. Additionally, he holds both a Ph.D in Chemistry and a B.A. in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.

- Testified on the fair market value of two exploration licenses offshore a West African country that had been allegedly expropriated
- Testified on the lost profits from an alleged breach of a joint operating agreement offshore Brazil
- Testified on the alleged damages from delayed profits in a shareholder dispute between Middle Eastern joint venture partners
- Testified on the damages from the expropriation of Former Soviet Union upstream petroleum assets
- Testified on the valuation of a carried interest in several West African oil licenses
- Testified on the value of a net profit interest in two North African gas licenses
