Josh Beets

Josh Beets specializes in distressed situations, both in-court and out-of-court. Mr. Beets has more than 15 years of finance, principal investing and advisory experience in a variety of industries, including energy, real estate, food and beverage, and construction. Throughout his career, he has worked on 36 restructurings involving total aggregate debt of $54 billion, including three companies in Latin America and two in Canada.

Mr. Beets’ experience includes strategic business plan development and review, capital structure review, liquidity forecasting and debt negotiations. He has experience in pre-acquisition diligence and capital raising as a private equity investor.

Prior to rejoining FTI Consulting, Mr. Beets was President of 42 Real Estate, a developer of industrial real estate across the United States and Canada. In his final year as President, 42 Real Estate had $300 million of real estate under development. He also founded a private equity firm, Fugue Capital, focused on lower middle-market companies. Before graduate school, Mr. Beets worked as a commercial banker at BBVA Compass and Citizens Bank. While at BBVA, he managed a portfolio of $350 million in business loans. His commercial banking experience includes underwriting and risk management.

Mr. Beets holds a B.M. with elective studies in business from Wheaton College and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Beets’ company-side engagements include working with Azul; Chicago Bridge & Iron; Fossil; Gaedeke Energy; SIMAD Holdings; and a prison construction company. Some of his larger creditor-side engagements include advising the revolver lenders to Aegean Marine; the revolver lenders to Babcock & Wilcox; the second lien lender to Chesapeake Energy; the secured lenders to C&J Energy Services; the revolving credit facility and senior secured credit facility lenders to Pacific Drilling; the lenders of the unsecured $1 billion revolver to Pacific Exploration and Production; the revolver lenders to Pengrowth; the revolver lenders to Sabine Oil and Gas; and the bank lenders to United Site Services.
