FTI Consulting Expands Its Crisis and Public Affairs Offerings in Washington, D.C. with Appointments of Meredith Griffanti and Cory Fritz

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 25, 2019 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the expansion of its Strategic Communications segment in Washington, D.C. with the addition of Meredith Griffanti and Cory Fritz.

Ms. Griffanti, a seasoned crisis communications professional, joins as a Managing Director in the Crisis & Issues Management practice and will report to Senior Managing Director Myron Marlin. Mr. Fritz, a veteran Capitol Hill communications expert, joins as a Managing Director in the Public Affairs practice and will report to Jackson Dunn, the firm’s Americas Head of Public Affairs.

Ms. Griffanti and Mr. Fritz deepen the firm’s ability to advise clients during significant moments of change, challenge or opportunity, both inside and outside the Beltway. Ms. Griffanti has managed communications around one of the largest corporate crises in recent memory and has roots as a Hill staffer. Mr. Fritz’s expertise covers a wide array of policy issues, with particular insight into foreign affairs and economic policy issues.

“More and more of our client assignments involve high-stakes, ‘bet-the-company’ crisis and litigation scenarios,” said Brian Kennedy, Head of the Americas for the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. “Adding Meredith and Cory strengthens our ability to provide clients with the kind of experience-driven insights and expertise they need to manage reputational threats. Meredith’s experience managing cyber crises will be invaluable as the threat of data breaches continues to be a key area of risk for C-suites. Cory’s policy acumen, and in particular his deep understanding of the political and regulatory process that governs cross-border transactions, will provide extraordinary value to clients from around our global network as they seek to make strategic investments in the U.S.”

Ms. Griffanti brings more than 10 years as a global communications professional, both on Capitol Hill and for a global corporation. Most recently, she served as Strategy & Communications Leader for the Office of Transformation at Equifax. While there, she was responsible for managing crisis communications and driving enterprise messaging around the response to one of the largest cyber-attacks in American history. Prior to that, she served as Equifax’s International Public Affairs Leader, where she spearheaded the company’s engagement programs across 10 Latin American countries. A fluent Spanish speaker, Ms. Griffanti was responsible for managing communications for several high-profile crises and multiple cyber threats across the region. She began her career on Capitol Hill, where she served as a press and communications advisor to U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, U.S. Congressman Phil Gingrey and U.S. Congressman Paul Broun. As part of her role, Ms. Griffanti will collaborate with FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity practice to help clients manage communications around cybersecurity incidents.

Mr. Fritz has served elected officials in Washington, D.C. for more than a decade. Most recently, he was Deputy Staff Director for the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he served on Chairman Ed Royce’s senior staff and played a key role in shaping policy and strategy while also managing communications operations. Congressman Royce lauded Mr. Fritz’s efforts on the floor of the House of Representatives, remarking that the “Foreign Affairs Committee has benefited greatly from his sound judgment, skill and passion for the values, including a free press, that have made America strong.”

Previously, Mr. Fritz served on the staff of Speaker of the House John Boehner for six years, where he was an on-the-record spokesperson responsible for all outreach to the Capitol press corps. Prior to that, he was Speaker Boehner’s Political Communications Director, where he drove integrated messaging campaigns and worked on the record with the national press corps. He began his career as Speechwriter and Assistant Press Secretary to the late Senator George V. Voinovich.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Griffanti said, “Having worked with FTI Consulting’s talented professionals in the midst of a major crisis, I can say with confidence that they bring a strategic, multi-disciplinary approach that few can match. I am excited to transition from a client to a colleague and look forward to applying best practices gleaned from Equifax as well as from other global crises I’ve navigated. My goal will be to help our clients around the world manage through some of their most critical challenges and capitalize on the opportunities that we create together.”

Mr. Fritz noted, “My time in Congress — both as a member of Speaker Boehner’s staff and later with Congressman Royce and the Foreign Affairs Committee — has given me a keen understanding of the role elected officials play in all aspects of the American business landscape. There are few firms that understand this reality like FTI Consulting, with their strong footprint in both the financial and regulatory capitals of the world. I am excited to be a part of a firm that views communications holistically and look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the globe.”
