Robert Burns has 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. Robert’s primary focus is Forensic Delay and Disruption Analysis (employing the various delay analysis techniques), investigating and quantifying delays to construction and engineering projects.
Robert has gained substantial experience, leading projects in various regions: Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and UK.
Robert has been appointed as a delay expert on four different disputes. He has provided expert witness assistance on several delay and disruption matters in various jurisdictions in the UK, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Robert has also provided expert evidence and testified in multiple Dispute Adjudication Board hearings (DABs).
Robert has led a number of claims management, contact administration, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution engagements (as well as setting up the Claims and Disputes business in Moscow, Russia) including preparation of or response to claims, assistance in contemporaneous contract and commercial issues and preparation of expert witness reports for various arbitral proceedings (DIAC, HKIA, ICC, LCIA, DIFC).
Robert has extensive experience across a wide range of industry sectors, in particular oil & gas, defence, power, roads and bridges and airports. Robert is dual qualified holding both engineering degrees (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) as well as legal qualifications (LL.M.) and is currently involved in advancing his academic research in construction law.
