Bruno Carbonari

Bruno Carbonari is a Managing Director in the Economic Consulting segment. Bruno advises clients on economic valuation and damages assessments in the context of complex disputes. He is also experienced in debt restructuring projects, financial modeling, business plan reviews and is a former auditor.

As an expert witness, Bruno provides clients expertise on the technical aspects of arbitration and litigation related to complex financial and economic valuation matters, such as damages assessments. He has been providing professional services for more than 20 years and has been involved in more than 30 litigation cases in across various sectors.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Bruno was a Supervisor at PwC, where he worked in the Corporate Finance & Valuation group. In this role, he prepared valuation reports for accounting purposes and decision-making processes, including for strategic analysis, Purchase Price Allocations, audit support, M&A, corporate reorganization plans (or judicial recovery plans), economic and financial analyses and impairment tests, as well as Ability-to-Pay assignments related to leniency agreements in Brazil and other project types. Before his role in corporate finance, Bruno worked as an independent auditor at PwC, focused on large pulp and paper companies in Brazil.

Relevant Experience:

• Served as a court-appointed expert in arbitration in the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (“CAM-CCBC”); the case involved a violation of a distribution agreement between a foreign heavy machinery company and the Brazilian distributor; issued an opinion on economic damages (lost profits) and testimony at the hearing
• Served as an expert in arbitration in the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of Amcham Brazil (“CAM-AMCHAM”); the case involved losses due to non-release of an escrow account related to an M&A transaction; issued an opinion and testimony at the hearing
• Prepared an expert report on valuation methodologies for the calculation of a put option on a minority stake; presented to the Arbitration Tribunal
• Provided financial modeling in the restructuring of Samarco S.A.; this involved a full review of the company’s projections after a dam failure
• Led the Purchase Price Allocation of a port in Brazil acquired by an international player
