David Hanley is a transformation and performance improvement executive with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations improve operations, drive growth and enhance profitability. Mr. Hanley specializes in operating model redesign, cost optimization, commercial performance improvement and digital transformation for mid-market and Fortune 1000 companies.
Mr. Hanley has deep expertise leading large-scale strategy and transformation initiatives across finance, operations and commercial functions. He has advised executive leadership teams on initiatives involving selling, general and administrative (“SG&A”) expense optimization, pricing and margin enhancement, business model transformation and operational restructuring. His work has delivered measurable earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (“EBITDA”) expansion, strengthened operating discipline and improved long-term organizational performance.
In addition, Mr. Hanley has extensive experience developing and implementing digital and artificial intelligence (“AI”)-enabled solutions that improve efficiency and decision-making. He has led initiatives integrating automation and generative AI capabilities into business processes and operating models, helping organizations reduce costs, improve scalability and enhance operational performance.
Mr. Hanley works closely with executive stakeholders to identify opportunities for value creation and operational improvement. He is known for building cross-functional alignment, leading high-performing teams and translating complex business challenges into practical and scalable solutions.
Prior to rejoining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hanley held leadership roles at global consulting firms where he advised clients across manufacturing, financial services, chemicals, aerospace and defense and healthcare industries.
Relevant Experience:
- Led the creation of a new aftermarket services business unit for a $1.5 billion global manufacturing company, growing the business to approximately $150 million in revenue and approximately 7% earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization margin
- Conducted an innovation portfolio assessment for a $5 billion financial services company, reducing capital expenditures by 30% and supporting approximately 7% annual revenue growth over three years with a quarter of that growth coming from new offerings
- Led a strategy and transformation initiative at a $3.5 billion retailer, reducing costs by $160 million through org structure redesign, service delivery model optimization and process improvement
- Advised a multinational chemicals manufacturer on pricing, profitability and customer account optimization initiatives that improved gross margin by approximately 10%
- Led a cost takeout effort at a $1 billion U.S. defense contractor, reducing manufacturing scrap that resulted in approximately 1.5% improved gross margin
