Diego Bernal

Diego Bernal has extensive experience in transformation, value creation and M&A projects, acquired through leadership roles at international strategy consulting firms. Over the course of his career, Diego has led complex performance improvement, operational turnaround and integration initiatives, helping corporations and PE-backed businesses unlock measurable growth, strengthen profitability and maximize value for stakeholders.

At FTI Consulting, Diego has led a number of high-impact engagements, including the design and execution of transformation and restructuring programs, the definition of strategic and value creation plans, and the management of M&A-related processes for multinational organizations and private equity funds. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, he advised corporates and investor-backed companies at firms such as Kearney and Accenture Strategy, supporting on strategy, transformation and transaction-related initiatives across a range of sectors.

Diego holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes.

Relevant Experience:

• Supported a comprehensive turnaround and value creation program for a European paper manufacturer, defining the business plan, identifying EBITDA, cash and industrial footprint optimization levers, and providing support to management and key stakeholders during execution
• Led the creation of a transformation program for a European consumer healthcare company, identifying and driving EBITDA optimization initiatives and synergy opportunities in a multi-acquisition environment
• Defined and implemented a transformation for a group specializing in elderly care to recover profitability lost following the impact of COVID-19
• Led the integration management office for multiple acquisitions for a PE-backed multinational technology services firm
• Developed a business plan across the oil and gas value chain to establish alliances between the state and Mexico's major gasoline groups to address market liberalization
