Dieter Iglhaut

Dieter Iglhaut is a civil engineer with over 20 years of construction industry experience. He has acted as both expert witness and assistant to the named expert in matters of delay and quantum. Dieter’s experience encompasses design and claims management of large railway tunnels, highways and related infrastructure projects across Germany and the rest of Europe.

Dieter advises clients in all aspects of time related contractual risks, both preparing and defending claims. His engineering background enables him to clearly identify any relevant technical aspects of disruptions, their resulting delays and the associated quantum and damages.

Based on a multitude of significant projects with different technical issues in different industries, Dieter covers all aspects of claim preparation starting with identification of relevant issues within complex engineering processes and construction or manufacturing processes.

Dieter’s focused approach in close collaborative coordination with the project team and external lawyers sets the ground for a robust claim and negotiation strategy and derived management decisions.

In addition to working on a high number of infrastructure related projects, including power plants, railways, bridges and highways, Dieter has supported numerous major rolling-stock projects up to disputed values of 1 billion €. He has been appointed as expert witness on three occasions and has been cross-examined in arbitral proceedings.
