About Eugene
Eugene Foo specializes in strategy and operations, including cost transformation, workforce optimization, R&D productivity, process improvement and growth strategy in semiconductor, internet, software, hardware, network equipment and industrial goods companies. Mr. Foo has 15 years of experience advising technology companies on business and functional transformations.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Foo was at AlixPartners in the Telecom, Media and Technology group and spent seven years prior at BCG in the Operations Practice.
Mr. Foo’s relevant experience includes leading the cost identification and transformation for an event management internet company. The effort included identification of cost opportunities from organizational efficiency across functions including engineering and sales, leading to ~20% reduction in workforce expense from efficiencies and best cost location transfers. Additional effort included enablement of a “war room” type environment to drive sales velocity and identification/execution of 45+ opportunities that can contribute to incremental 12% EBITDA uplift.
In a past energy industry engagement, Mr. Foo transformed the global strategic agenda of a $100 billion European energy company to deliver 15% incremental EBITDA. Working daily with Head of Strategy, he led a 15 cross-functional/BU client team to define the five strategic target areas to be executed with a leaner agile development process, organization structure and defined product management roles. Enablement initiatives included building new organization, implementing new ways of working with product managers, defining new capabilities (e.g., innovation radar) and implementing incentive model to drive cultural change from transformation.
Mr. Foo led the innovation transformation of an $18 billion South American construction material company. Defined 12 strategic innovation areas and implemented these focus areas through a redesign of the organization and governance models, reprioritized the innovation portfolio and product/service roadmap to align with the new focus areas, established disciplined product management roles and conceptualized the innovation lab to accelerate enterprise-wide innovation.
