Josh Beets

Josh Beets specializes in distressed situations, both in-court and out-of-court. Mr. Beets has close to 15 years of finance, principal investing and advisory experience in a variety of industries, including energy, real estate, food and beverage and construction.

Mr. Beets’ experience includes strategic business plan development and review, capital structure review, liquidity forecasting and debt negotiations. In addition, he has experience in pre-acquisition diligence and capital raising as a private equity investor.

Mr. Beets has worked on 29 restructurings with total aggregate debt of $46.6 billion. Some of his larger creditor-side engagements include advising the second lien lender to Chesapeake Energy; revolving credit facility and senior secured credit facility lenders to Pacific Drilling; revolving credit facility lenders to Pengrowth, Aegean Marine, Babcock & Wilcox and Sabine Oil and Gas; lenders of the unsecured $1 billion revolving credit facility to Pacific Exploration and Production; and the secured lenders to C&J Energy Services. Mr. Beets’ company-side engagements include working with Chicago Bridge & Iron, Gaedeke Energy, an international retailer and a prison construction company.

Prior to rejoining FTI Consulting, Mr. Beets was president of 42 Real Estate, which developed industrial real estate across the United States and Canada. 42 Real Estate had $300 million of real estate under development in his final year as president. He also founded a private equity firm, Fugue Capital, which focused on lower middle-market companies.

Before graduate school, Mr. Beets worked as a commercial banker at BBVA Compass and Citizens Bank. While at BBVA, he managed a portfolio of over $300 million in business loans. His commercial banking experience includes underwriting and risk management.
