About Kate
Kate Northway is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment and specializes in financial services related communications solutions. Ms. Northway advises companies and CEOs in financial services, technology and healthcare sectors through regulatory scrutiny, market volatility and reputational inflection points, helping them navigate complex communications challenges. She specializes in executive communications, corporate narrative development, media strategy and regulatory communications, drawing on deep expertise in regulatory affairs, crisis navigation, reputation management and strategic messaging. She is based in New York.
Ms. Northway joined FTI Consulting in 2026 from the New York State Department of Financial Services, where she served as Senior Advisor to the Superintendent and Head of External Affairs. There, she led communications, employee engagement, media relations and stakeholder management across issues such as digital asset and stablecoin policy, cybersecurity, consumer protection and insurance affordability. She was part of the executive team that managed the Department’s response during the 2023 regional banking crisis when it took possession of Signature Bank.
Prior to her public service, Ms. Northway spent a decade at Omnicom Group and a subsidiary, where she ultimately became Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to the CEO of the Public Relations Group, overseeing corporate communications and business strategy across all of Omnicom’s public relations and public affairs firms. This experience gives her a distinctive blend of regulatory insight and agency leadership that informs her counsel to C-suite and senior executives and honed her executive communications, operations and business development expertise. She began her professional career at Porter Novelli (an Omnicom Group company), leading corporate communications and managing several portfolios for Fortune 100 businesses. Her past clients include Johnson & Johnson, Capital One, Samsung and the Almond Board of California.
Ms. Northway holds a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Communications from Hamilton College and serves on the college’s Alumni Council. She is a member of Mixing Board and previously participated in Arthur Page Society’s Page Up program for senior communications leaders. Her professional recognitions include PR News Rising PR Stars 30 & Under award, PRSA Silver Anvil award and Omnicom’s Emerging Stars honor.
