Mr. Garfield’s work focuses on leading multinational organizations through the development, implementation and execution of strategies that position companies for growth, enable cost reduction and improve operational execution. His specific expertise includes supply chain, mergers and acquisitions, cost optimization, growth and brand strategy, procure-to-pay transformation, international expansion and operating model design.
Mr. Garfield led the development and implementation of an international distribution strategy for a footwear and apparel brand, resulting in a complete restructuring of client’s plan-to-cash strategy, processes and IT systems, as well as implementing a strategy that resulted in annual savings of $25 million. He also oversaw the carve-out of $200 million business unit from Fortune 500 manufacturer, including the opening of two new production facilities to support standalone operations. The transaction closed on time, with client saving over $2 million through early completion of integration activities necessary to terminate the transition services agreement.
Mr. Garfield also implemented a cost-to-serve capability at a major eCommerce distributor, driving over $1 million in annual cost reductions through identification of efficiencies across the supply chain. He additionally assessed key commodity markets for a food and beverage client to understand historical and forecasted trends, define implications to the business and refine commodity management strategies to mitigate procurement risk and provide enhanced visibility to product margins. This work resulted in increased leverage of hedging strategies to reduce bottom-line exposure to commodity fluctuations by over 10%.
Mr. Garfield’s sourcing experience includes leading strategic sourcing efforts for a specialty retailer within key transportation categories, driving over $25 million in savings over three-year period and improving eCommerce guest service levels.
His sales and operations planning (“S&OP”) experience includes developing, implementing and managing the execution of a global S&OP process for a $14 billion manufacturer. This S&OP program drove on-time delivery and forecast accuracy improvements of over 25% within four months of program implementation.
