Matthew Mansell-Ahmed

Matthew Mansell-Ahmed is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting specialising in restructuring, insolvency and M&A tax. Matthew has more than 13 years of experience leading and supporting the tax aspects of a wide range of projects spanning debt restructurings, group reorganisations and insolvencies — both UK-based and cross-border.

Previously, Matthew was an Associate Director on the Restructuring Tax team at Teneo. He holds the Chartered Tax Adviser (“CTA”) certification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is a certified Tax Technician by the Association of Taxation Technicians. 

Matthew holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics with Management from the University of Exeter.

Relevant Experience:

• Served as lead tax advisor to the liquidators of an Irish aircraft leasing platform managing a multibillion-dollar asset portfolio
• Represented lenders of a Middle East healthcare group on the restructuring of approximately $6.7 billion of debt
• Supported a UK-headquartered energy group on the restructuring of approximately £500 million of third-party debt
• Guided lenders through a £375 million debt restructuring, including the transfer of a UK-based holiday resorts business
• Assisted lenders to a Bermudian-headquartered group with the transfer of approximately $370 million of assets located in Bermuda, Hong Kong and the UK
• Led lender-side tax advice on the restructuring of approximately €60 million of debt for a Dutch industrial and construction tanking business
• Managed a UK defence group’s tax approach for its debt restructuring and group reorganisation ahead of a carve-out transaction
