Michael Adeyanju

Michael Adeyanju is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment, based in Washington D.C. With more than 15 years of experience in communications, crisis management, public policy and strategic advisory, Mr. Adeyanju helps organizations manage complex reputational and political challenges and communicate effectively in moments of great scrutiny. As an accomplished writer, he has a proven expertise in collaborating with clients to craft compelling narratives that advance their strategic goals.

Mr. Adeyanju specializes in navigating multifaceted and challenging issues, frequently advising senior leaders during high-stakes situations. He leverages integrated communications solutions to mitigate organizational risk and has a proven record of delivering measurable results. Leveraging Mr. Adeyanju’s work in crisis management and stakeholder engagement includes, but is not limited to, leading cybersecurity crisis communications and ransomware response strategies for organizations in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. He provides strategic communications and reputation management counsel to help clients prepare for and minimize reputational impacts stemming from data security and privacy incidents, including ransomware attacks, business email compromises and third-party breaches.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Adeyanju served as Communications Lead and Advisor to the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s National Hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he guided the organization through an unprecedented period of operational and financial disruption, positioning the former President and CEO as a national thought leader on the pandemic’s impact on children and the emerging youth mental health crisis. His work has been featured in national media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and the Washington Business Journal, as well as in regional publications.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Adeyanju served as Senior Advisor and Director of Executive Communications for multiple presidents at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. Over his nearly eight-year tenure, he provided crisis management counsel to the Board of Trustees, the President and the executive team, while strengthening presidential engagement with students through innovative social media initiatives. He began his career in Ohio state government, serving in leadership roles for the Ohio House Democratic Whip, where his bipartisan approach contributed to the passage of two criminal justice reform bills signed into law. Mr. Adeyanju holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Ohio University.
