Rick van der Vegte

Rick serves as the Supply Chain Management offering lead in the Health Solutions practice and is focused on solving the most complex Supply Chain & Operations challenges across the traditional plan-source-make-deliver domains, while bringing deep and international experience in the industry trends.

Rick has over 10 years of academic and hands-on experience in helping clients find solutions to improve their operations. Starting his career in the FMCG sector, he gained knowledge of (external) leading practices in manufacturing processes and specialized in Logistics & Distribution operations. In the years following, Rick had significant exposure to topics such as: Cold Chain management, vaccine manufacturing operations, global trade operations, individualized medicine, direct-to-patient supply chains, CMO management and Control Towers.

Rick has been involved in multiple mergers, integrations and carve-outs where he brings pragmatism based on experience. He has been an active member of restructuring teams, bringing in operational restructuring experience. Rick has also been a strategic advisor on Supply Chain & Operations topics for C-level and investor stakeholders. With a passion for bringing the best possible experience to patients, he strives for setting up Supply Chain organizations, processes and technological enablement that are not only cost effective but also capital effective. Rick’s deep experience extends into service delivery optimization, while working closely with commercial organizations.

Prior to working for United States-based consulting companies and US-based health solutions organizations, Rick spent close to 10 years of his career working with EMEA based operations. Rick has worked in the Asia Pacific region, as well as South America. Given this diverse global experience, Rick has frequently been asked to help establish and/or improve global supply chain operations.

Rick holds a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialized in Supply Chain and Operations Management and holds a BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. Rick is APICS CPIM certified and holds a lean six sigma green belt certification.
