Robert C. Poole

Robert C. Poole is a Senior Managing Director in the Construction Solutions practice within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment at FTI Consulting. He is based in Toronto.

Mr. Poole helps owners and contractors deliver successful capital projects and analyze, develop and resolve claims and disputes. He is recognized as one of Canada’s leading construction quantum expert witnesses.

Mr. Poole has more than 30 years of professional experience in Canada and the UK, holding senior positions in public and private organizations, delivering expert witness, claims advisory, cost consultancy, risk management and project management services.

Mr. Poole has prepared claims and expert reports on delay and quantum, and he has testified at arbitrations across Canada. He has assisted counsel in construction and real estate disputes presented in court, arbitration and mediation. 

Mr. Poole’s claims and expert witness work spans a broad spectrum of project types, including buildings, roads and bridges, railway and transportation, oil and gas plants, power plants, tunnels and ship building. He has provided rebuttal reports and assisted counsel with the identification of key issues, witness statement preparation and preparation for trial.

Mr. Poole has presented at the Canadian Institute, ADR Institute of Canada and other events on the subjects of dispute resolution and managing risk in construction.

Mr. Poole holds a first class B.Sc. (Hons) in quantity surveying. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Canadian Professional Quantity Surveyor. He has served for a number of years on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors in Ontario.
