About Robert
Robert Franson is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Power, Renewables & Energy Transition practice. Mr. Franson brings more than 20 years of industry experience across several disciplines of energy finance, including private equity, project finance, equity research and portfolio management. He is experienced at originating, underwriting and managing closed equity and debt investments of various energy assets.
In his most recent roles prior to FTI Consulting, Mr. Franson worked in energy-focused private equity at Rockland Capital, Ares Management and Energy Investors Funds, where he focused on the management of numerous utility-scale power generation assets. He has considerable experience commercially managing all aspects of power generation assets to include project budgeting, debt financing and asset divestments. He has additional experience in investing, project finance and capital markets at a variety of investment funds, financial institutions and industry-leading corporations.
Mr. Franson began his career in the United States Marine Corps, ultimately achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served as a combat advisor to the Afghan National Army in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, led a small independent maritime-based anti terrorism unit across several Middle Eastern nations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and earned personal awards including the Navy Commendation Medal (with combat ‘V’), the Combat Action Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
