Jiva J. Jagtap

Jiva J. Jagtap serves as the Global Leader of Private Equity and co-leads the Telecommunication Sector practice. With more than 25 years of experience, Jiva specializes in advising private equity groups, portfolio companies and publicly listed companies with due-diligence and post transaction value creation. As the leader of the private equity practice, he has personally led diligence efforts and supported major transformations in acquired companies. His client service areas cover operational, financial and commercial diligence, corporate strategy and operational improvement —with deep expertise in the telecommunications sector (“telecom”). As an engineer by training, Jiva brings a unique perspective to operational improvement and finding ways to streamline and increase efficiencies at organizations without always relying on technology.

Jiva has extensive M&A and financing experience working with management teams and boards of directors on company strategy, acquisitions, and divestitures, particularly in telecom. His clients have included both publicly and privately held companies. Given his finance background, he has also served as an advisor to help most fiber companies in the U.S. with their securitization strategies.

Besides FTI Consulting, Jiva has held several senior management roles in the telecommunications sector, including segment chief financial officer (“CFO”) for Zayo, a large public telecom company, managing the enterprise and allstream business segment that accounted for more than $1 billion in annual revenue. He also served as vice president at a wireless software startup Signalsoft which had its IPO, he was responsible for the company’s strategic plan, partnership program and expansion of the company into Europe and Asia. He helped engineer the sale of the Company to OpenWave (Nasdaq: OPWV). In addition, he was at Level 3 (now Lumen) initially in the M&A group and subsequently helping develop VoIP services for enterprise. Prior to Level 3, he was part of the telecom investment banking group at Citigroup (also known as Salomon Smith Barney).

Jiva has represented clients including Lumen, T-Mobile, Global Crossing, Vonage, Akamai, Windstream, Liberty Latam, Mitel, RingCentral, Brinks Security, Equinix, Cologix, CyrusOne, Cyxtera and Zayo.

Jiva holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Mumbai University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Case Western Reserve University, where he was the recipient of the Weatherhead Merit Scholarship. He is the Founder of TiE Colorado, part of TiE Global, an organization that fosters entrepreneurship.
