Lucy C. Lee is a senior executive manager and subject-matter expert with more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare administration and management consulting throughout the complete continuum of care, providing leadership within a variety of care institutions in the academic, integrated delivery network (“IDN”), specialty hospital, ambulatory services and for-profit sectors. Lucy’s expertise includes patient throughput and process redesign, capacity and resource utilization, human capital optimization, supply chain and cost reduction, physician practice and service line management, and clinical-business intelligence.
A results-driven people and project manager with a proven record of timely and effective delivery, Lucy has led multiple clinical transformation programs. In these initiatives, she established system-wide interdisciplinary governance structures, guided ongoing implementation of standardized processes, streamlined patient throughput and built performance measurement mechanisms. The programs optimized capacity and resource utilization and led to sustainable financial gains.
Lucy has managed a variety of cost containment and reduction programs, including non-labor and workforce initiatives, for several esteemed healthcare systems. A strong believer in the innovative use of data and technology in hospital management, Ms. Lee combines the business and clinical aspects of healthcare to create practical solutions and business models that deliver quantifiable and sustainable results.
Serving as a subject-matter expert in hospital administration and organizational restructure, Lucy has provided operational and financial expertise to thoroughly evaluate debtor organizations’ recovery plans, turnaround programs, utilization and financial statements to rapidly identify, prioritize and strategize improvement and transition opportunities.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Lucy was a Director with Guidehouse/Navigant. She was also a founding partner for Apex Health Consulting, a boutique specialty firm based in Stamford, Conn.
Relevant Experience:
- Led a perioperative service integration and efficiency program for a nine-facility healthcare organization to establish system governance structure, improve capacity utilization, streamline patient throughput and build the performance measurement mechanism
- Provided operational and financial expertise to evaluate a debtor organization’s actual vs. projected performance and determine whether the organization was on track to achieve the operational and financial goals of the recovery plan; further identified opportunities to accelerate the turnaround efforts
- Provided expertise in anesthesia service management to evaluate service agreement, staffing model, non-prime-time coverage plan, billing and collection efficiency; implemented prioritized initiatives to improve operational efficiency, managerial effectiveness, customer satisfaction and financial performance
- Led a workforce management project focused on benchmarking analytics, provider and non-provider staffing plan, span of control and the deployment of insourced and outsourced staff; validated productivity improvement opportunities and designed sustainable solutions aligned with the organization’s strategic growth plan
- Provided expertise in capacity utilization, workforce management and clinical operations to improve operational efficiency and financial performance of PE-backed ambulatory surgery centers
