How do you efficiently integrate new energy assets in a highly regulated environment?
In July 2025, Talen Energy, a significant U.S. independent power producer and infrastructure company, announced it would acquire two large baseload gas assets from a privately held independent power producer, adding 2.9 GW of new energy production to its footprint. As this asset type was new for Talen’s portfolio, the size and regulatory complexity of the transaction necessitated careful integration efforts to minimize risk and maximize efficiency to close.
FTI Consulting was engaged to lead integration planning and ensure full functional, regulatory and compliance readiness for Day 1.
Our Impact
Supported by an effective and efficient Integration Management Office, Talen navigated regulatory hurdles, closed the deal earlier than originally targeted and mapped $1 million in cost avoidance by accelerating Transition Services Agreement (“TSA”) exit planning and execution.
