Andrew has particular expertise in investment funds and banking, having worked for three years in a UK Big 4 accounting firm that specialised in delivering large-scale wind down projects. His experience also includes two separate long-term client secondments to major international banks, during which time he was involved in transacting debt-for-equity swaps, property participation agreements, single debt disposals, portfolio debt disposals, sale of business processes, business and asset sales and wind downs.
Andrew has acted as an adviser, director, liquidator and receiver of various Cayman Islands investment funds and other entities. He has delivered wind down, financial due diligence, sell-side and restructuring options advice in over 70 situations across a broad variety of markets and sectors, including financial services, real estate and oil & gas. Specific examples of Andrew’s previous engagements include acting as liquidator of a group of funds with over 1,100 investors and USD$70m invested in trade receivable assets, leading wind down realisation strategy and managing significant legal claims. He has also managed the wind down and liquidation of a closed-ended fund invested in life insurance policies with over 200 investors based in LATAM.
Andrew’s other recent experience includes the wind down of a USD$30m fund of funds involving the sale of illiquid investments to secondary market purchasers, as well as the provisional liquidation of a Cayman registered hedge fund invested in high-value listed securities following a stakeholder dispute. Andrew has also acted as Court-appointed receiver to wind down an FX fund following the Swiss National Bank’s unexpected decision to unpeg the Swiss franc and Euro.
