Brian Martin is a Managing Director in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice. He has over 10 years of experience fulfilling leadership roles on many high profile company-side client engagements. Mr. Martin has industry experience in retail and consumer products, grocery, manufacturing, mining, and financial services.
Mr. Martin has led workstreams focused on cash flow forecasting, business planning and budgeting, bankruptcy administration and performance improvement. He has advised companies and lenders in both in- and out-of-court restructuring transactions and business plan assessments.
Recently, Mr. Martin served as advisor to Claire’s Stores, Inc. in a highly successful Chapter 11 process that deleveraged the company’s balance sheet by almost $2 billion while retaining 100% of its key employees. In this case, Mr. Martin also provided testimony which helped secure significant savings for his client.
Mr. Martin has also provided performance improvement services for private equity owned businesses, including serving as the interim pricing department for an equipment rental business, helping to build capabilities for a business unit that was purchased as a carve-out from a larger corporation. Additionally, Mr. Martin provided FP&A services for several clients, including a large private equity owned manufacturing business.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Martin worked in a global financial services firm’s mortgage originations unit. As a member of a correspondent lending group, Mr. Martin performed a variety of roles in the management of third-party mortgage purchases. He held assignments in pricing, warehouse lending/credit, product risk, account management and financial reporting.
Mr. Martin holds a B.A. in economics and an M.B.A., cum laude, in Corporate Finance & Investments from the University of Notre Dame.
