Graham Tilbury is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting based in London and leads FTI Consulting’s Tax Technology Advisory Service.

Graham has significant experience working with businesses on a wide variety of tax technology projects, including Tax Technology Maturity, Tax Automation, Tax Data Analytics, Tax Process Consulting, and Tax AI. Over 25 years he has worked in Practice and Industry, in the UK and Europe, and across all Taxes, delivering solutions using a wide variety of technologies; both building custom solutions and implementing 3rd party software.

Prior to FTI Consulting Graham spent 2 years providing internal Tax Technology solutions within Huawei Global Finance, was Head of Tax Data Analytics for PwC in Switzerland, was the Senior Solutions Consultant in Tax and Accounting products at Thomson Reuters EMEA, and was a Tax Technology Senior Manager at KPMG, Deloitte, and Arthur Andersen.

Graham’s recent experience includes implementation of RPA solutions to check and validate tax data and VAT ID registrations, development of matching algorithms and implementation of software to cross check data sources in supply chain and order-to-cash and use of data analytics and machine learning to identify mis-coded transactions, to improve data quality and reduce compliance risk.  He also has expertise in product customisation and integration, creating efficient business aligned solutions and running tax process technology workshops and reviews, creating and implementing a tax technology vision for senior stakeholders.

Graham holds both an MSc in Cognitive Science and a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1997 and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax. He currently sits on the CIOT Management of Taxes sub-committee, and the Digitisation and Agent Strategy working group. He also contributed to a number of HMRC tax technology sub-committees, and was a member of the Business Europe VAT policy group.
