Kannan Arasaratnam is a Managing Director in the Business Transformation practice and specializes in finance. Mr. Arasaratnam has over 18 years of professional services experience, primarily focused on helping clients work through and assess complex merger and acquisition (“M&A”) transactions.
Mr. Arasaratnam’s experience includes a wide range of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, financial services and mining.
Mr. Arasaratnam has provided financial due diligence, transaction support and M&A advisory services to leading private equity funds and strategic investors, with deals ranging from $10 million to $50 billion. He has assisted both public and private companies, and has managed transaction teams on cross-borders transactions across various global locales.
Mr. Arasaratnam has had a particular focus on supporting private equity clients, including KKR, The Carlyle Group, OMERS, First Reserve, CPPIB, Birch Hill Equity Partners, Torquest, Oncap, Macquarie and Kilmer Capital.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Arasaratnam spent three years managing his own consulting practice in California, assisting private companies/investors with M&A transactions and raising capital. He also spent two years with Blackrock as Director of Corporate Strategy for Canada, and more than 13 years with Deloitte in Toronto, Vancouver and New York, both in the audit group and in the financial advisory practice. At Deloitte, Kannan regularly lectured on private equity industry training, both internally and externally, and co-led Deloitte’s Global Private Equity targeting initiative.
Mr. Arasaratnam sits on the Board of Directors of WE Charity, a $60 million charity operating around the world, empowering change with resources that create sustainable impact.
Mr. Arasaratnam holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Waterloo and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario, Canada). He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and the Association for Corporate Growth.
