Marc Atlas specializes in corporate finance within the power and renewables arena. He has over 15 years of experience in the power and energy sector and has worked as both a consultant and directly for multiple industry leading independent power producers.

Mr. Atlas frequently works with institutional investors, technology providers, OEMs and developers, working across various technologies, geographies and stages of business evolution. As an experienced Chief Financial Officer and senior finance leader, he is an expert in managing both project and corporate finance functions, developing talent, providing leadership to growing organizations and maintaining maximum flexibility, when working across various economic cycles.

Mr. Atlas has worked extensively on both domestic and international power and clean energy opportunities, with an emphasis in project and corporate finance, project development, acquisitions and divestitures, international expansion, energy marketing and commercial contract execution. In the aggregate, he has managed or significantly participated in the development and financing of dozens of wind, solar, gas and battery storage projects, representing over 2,500 megawatts and $3.5 billion of installed capacity. From a markets perspective, Mr. Atlas has successfully worked on U.S. projects in CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO and other jurisdictions. He also maintains significant project finance expertise, having raised more than $2 billion of aggregate senior debt, back leverage, tax equity, minority interest and preferred equity in the U.S. markets. Internationally, Marc has significant experience developing platforms and projects in Asia and Latin America.

Mr. Atlas has participated in buy- and sell-side transactions, both as a sponsor and advisor. In regards to capital raise, he advised a wind turbine technology provider on various financial matters in connection with closing a capital raise and constructing its first manufacturing facility. He also drove a solar developer’s go-to-market effort to raise over $100 million of corporate capital.

Mr. Atlas’ acquisition experience includes managing a transaction for $100 million of secondary market wind equipment from a distressed seller; managing the acquisition of a large solar project from a public company bankruptcy; and advising an international institutional investor on the acquisition of an offshore wind platform.

Additional experience includes executing a 49% minority interest sale in a portfolio of natural gas-fired power plants and developing refinancing strategies for distressed power generation assets.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Atlas ran NextGen Finance & Strategy LLC, an independent clean energy consulting business. Previously, Mr. Atlas was Chief Financial Officer of 8minutenergy Solar and before that duly served as Vice President of Finance and Director of International Development for Invenergy. Earlier in his career, he worked for Charles River Associates Inc. and as Analyst and Trader for a leading commodities investor.

Marc has spoken many times at clean energy finance conferences and has also been a guest graduate school lecturer on renewable energy finance.
