About Michael
Michael Bui specializes in financial advisory and corporate restructurings. His experience includes interim management, forecast development, business plan analyses, collateral evaluations and recovery assessment, strategic alternatives assessment, and other restructuring matters. Mr. Bui has close to 15 years of corporate recovery, corporate finance and financial advisory experience. His industry experience includes engineering and construction, oilfield services, exploration and production (“E&P”), power and other industrial sectors. Mr. Bui has represented private and public companies, as well as lenders.
Most recently, Mr. Bui was financial advisor to an independent power producer (IPP) in the ERCOT market on its out-of-court restructuring related to Winter Storm Uri disruptions. Prior to that, Mr. Bui was financial advisor to TNT Crane & Rigging in its restructuring. He also served as Interim Chief Financial Officer of a gas-to-liquids company guiding the company through a restructuring and sale process.
Other notable engagements include Strike, LLC, Katerra, Inc., McDermott International, Dolphin Drilling AS, Pacific Drilling S.A., ExGen Texas Power, Willbros Group, Inc., RockPile Energy Services, a private engineering and fabrication company, a publicly traded mid-continent E&P company, a publicly traded Louisiana and Texas focused E&P company, a publicly-traded downhole tools and chemicals company, Big West Oil and several other confidential matters.
Prior to rejoining FTI Consulting, Mr. Bui was a Senior Manager of Project Controls and Business Management with KBR’s Saudi Arabian Joint Venture. The joint venture provided engineering services to the oil and gas and infrastructure industry. In this role, he was responsible for business management matters, including financial planning and analysis, project controls (cost, planning and estimating) and major pursuit analysis. Mr. Bui began his professional career at KBR, where his responsibilities included providing analytical support for business acquisitions, investor relations and other corporate finance matters. Mr. Bui played integral roles in KBRs $511 million initial public offering and subsequent split-off of Halliburton.
