Patrick Hébréard is a Managing Director with FTI Consulting. He is a member of the Economic and Financial Consulting practice and is based in Paris. Patrick is an experienced expert and adviser with over 17 years of experience in the energy industry. Patrick has been appointed as testifying expert in many complex and high-value arbitration proceedings in the energy sector.
Specialized in International Arbitration, Patrick acted as an expert in many energy contracts and energy infrastructures related cases. Patrick has assisted major companies and leading law firms in various regions across the world, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South America. He has worked on large and complex cases where damages claimed exceeded $1bn.
Patrick acts as a quantum expert, valuing damages. He also serves as energy industry expert providing opinion on industry practice and market standard regarding contracts and project development, notably in relation to supply contracts, transportation matters, market developments and infrastructure development. He has been working recently on various matters in different regions of the world: a termination of a concession agreement in South America, a gas price review in Southern Europe, a maritime border dispute, a hydropower plant project in Southern Europe, a gas pricing dispute in South East Asia, the termination of a gas transportation contract in South East Asia
Before joining FTI Consulting, Patrick worked successively for EDF, BP and CEG Europe. During his career, Patrick acquired a significant amount of experience from the global and European gas markets. He negotiated multiple long-term supply and purchase, transportation and tolling agreements. Having acted as a buyer, producer, seller, shipper, pipeline operator and shareholder, he enjoys a broad and unique perspective on the commercial, contractual, regulatory and financial issues that need to be considered.
While in the industry, Patrick lead multiple arbitration processes. He was also a lead negotiator on a gas supply and transportation contracts for the Shah Deniz Consortium in the development of the Shah Deniz 2 project, bringing 10 bcma of gas for 25 years from Azerbaijan to Italy. In addition to his activity as an expert witness, Patrick advises companies on economic, commercial, regulatory and strategic issues along the energy value chain (upstream, midstream and downstream, shareholders' dispute).
Patrick is fluent and works in English, French and Spanish. Patrick is a trained engineer with a Master of Science, specialized in Energy and aeronautics. He also holds a master's degree in marketing and a master's degree in arbitration law
