FTI Consulting Appoints Veteran Mexican Diplomat to Strategic Communications Segment
Damián Martínez Tagüeña Enhances Depth of the Firm’s Public Affairs Expertise in Mexico
Mexico City, May 24, 2021 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the appointment of Damián Martínez Tagüeña, a seasoned Mexican career diplomat, as a Senior Director in the firm’s Strategic Communications segment. He will be based in Mexico City.

Mr. Martínez Tagüeña joins from Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he most recently served as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. In this capacity, he also served as Sous-Sherpa to the G-20; advised the Ministry’s senior leadership on major foreign affairs issues, including Mexico’s international policies regarding the pandemic; and helped oversee Mexico’s 1,400-strong diplomatic corps, with 80 embassies, eight permanent missions and 67 consulates (50 of them in the U.S.).
Prior to this role, Mr. Martínez Tagüeña served in several senior positions within Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Consul-General of Mexico in Hong Kong, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna, Chief Political Attaché in Japan, Chief of Staff to the Undersecretary of North American Affairs, and Deputy Chief of Cabinet to Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. He has been involved in a broad range of issues, including climate negotiations, the establishment and operation of cross-border programs, business promotion, cooperation on the rule of law, and the response to political, consular and humanitarian crises.
