FTI Consulting Strengthens Financial Crime Compliance Practice in China with Appointment of Winston Wang
Shanghai, Sept. 8, 2022 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced continued investment in its Financial Crime Compliance practice within the firm’s Forensic and Litigation Consulting segment with the appointment of Winston Wang as a Managing Director.
Mr. Wang, who is based in Beijing, brings more than 18 years of financial crime compliance experience to the role, including expertise in anti-money laundering (“AML”), sanctions compliance, fraud prevention, customer identification and customer risk rating. In his role at FTI Consulting, Mr. Wang will focus on continuing to build the Financial Crime Compliance practice in China by enhancing the firm’s ability to meet client needs while fulfilling regulatory expectations.
“Winston’s considerable leadership skills and deep knowledge of the financial sector will further strengthen the firm’s position as a leading provider of financial crime solutions,” said Rod Francis, Head of Asia Financial Crime Compliance at FTI Consulting. “The financial services industry is facing an unprecedented change in its compliance and regulatory landscape. Winston’s knowledge and experience enhances our ability to help our clients address these complex regulatory and operational challenges.”
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wang worked at China Minsheng Bank, where he was a Director within the AML department. Whilst there, he managed the formulation of money laundering risk management policies and procedures, the implementation of AML laws and regulatory requirements, as well as established and improved the banks internal control systems. Mr. Wang introduced robust frameworks for identifying, assessing and monitoring money laundering risk and put forward comprehensive measures to ensure appropriate compliance. In addition, he also promoted the re-construction of the AML system of the bank, and the in-depth application of artificial intelligence technology.
The appointment of Mr. Wang is the most recent in a series of strategic hires in 2022 to enhance FTI Consulting’s Financial Crime Compliance practice. In April, Jackie Yu joined as a Senior Managing Director based in Shanghai, and Lilian Sin joined as a Managing Director based in Hong Kong.
