FTI Consulting Enhances Interim Management Expertise with Appointments of Don Harer and Christopher Pizzo
Washington, D.C., Aug. 20, 2019 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the appointment of Don Harer and Christopher Pizzo as Managing Directors in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice within the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment at FTI Consulting.
Mr. Harer, who will be based in Chicago, and Mr. Pizzo, who will be based in Atlanta, enhance FTI Consulting’s interim management and restructuring capabilities. Both bring experience serving as chief restructuring officer and interim chief financial officer for middle-market and large-cap companies in a range of industries.
“Our turnaround and restructuring experts help management stabilize finances and operations to reassure all parties-in-interest that proactive steps are being taken to enhance and protect value,” said Michael Buenzow, Company-Side Leader of the Turnaround & Restructuring practice at FTI Consulting. “While default rates remain low, we are seeing larger and more responsible companies addressing leverage and operational issues proactively. We welcome to Don and Chris to the firm — they add further depth to a strong team of restructuring professionals in the U.S. and across the global FTI Consulting platform, and we welcome them to the firm.”
Mr. Harer brings more than 20 years of experience in restructurings, turnarounds and liquidity management initiatives; identifying and divesting of non-core assets; and preparing and supporting companies through bankruptcy proceedings. As a financial advisor to both companies and lenders, Mr. Harer has devised and implemented loan exit strategies; negotiated loan amendments, waivers and forbearance agreements; developed and analyzed complex financial and cash flow models; implemented monitoring procedures; undertook enterprise and asset valuations and negotiated the sale of underperforming assets.
Mr. Harer rejoins FTI Consulting from Conway MacKenzie, where he was a Shareholder and Managing Director. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and Turnaround Management Association.
“I was impressed by the teamwork-oriented environment of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment and the reach of the firm and the size and complexity of the situations it handles, which is a good fit for my experience,” Mr. Harer said. “I look forward to working with colleagues around the world to support clients through situations that impact their ability to operate and deliver value.”
Mr. Pizzo brings more than 25 years of experience in finance, accounting, interim management, restructuring and lender advisory work. He has developed and reviewed financial and operating turnaround plans, managed covenant compliance, renegotiated financing arrangements, managed cash and liquidity, developed and reviewed financial models and 13-week cash flow projections, implemented cost initiatives and raised capital.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Pizzo was a Senior Vice President in the Corporate Restructuring group at Deloitte. He also has experience as Controller at The Knot, Inc., and as Chief Financial Officer of London & Leeds Development Corporation. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and Turnaround Management Association.
“As a leader in the industry, FTI Consulting was the right platform for my interim management and lender advisory work,” Mr. Pizzo said. “The firm’s commitment to investing behind its people and ensuring it has leading positions in key markets globally will enable me to work with companies and creditors on the most complex, high-stakes restructurings.”
