Lauren Cavanaugh has over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. As a consultant, Ms. Cavanaugh has worked on a variety of engagements including expert testimony, loss reserve analyses, asbestos liability estimation, reinsurance pricing, due diligence support for mergers & acquisitions and other projects. She has experience in pricing and reserving of nearly all lines of property & casualty business, including Workers Compensation, Professional Liability, and Reinsurance.
Ms. Cavanaugh has provided expert testimony and/or written expert reports in court and arbitrations. She has been involved with dispute resolution in a wide variety of areas involving reinsurance, reinsurance brokerage arrangements, pricing/reserving of commercial lines coverage, and asbestos liability estimation.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Cavanaugh worked both for a major consulting company, as well as for two property/casualty insurance companies. During her time working for insurers, Ms. Cavanaugh worked extensively on predictive modeling for personal and commercial lines insurance.
Ms. Cavanaugh is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She currently serves as Vice President of Casualty on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the American Academy of Actuaries. As part of this role, Ms. Cavanaugh regularly testifies to National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ committees and working groups. Previously, she chaired the American Academy of Actuaries’ P/C Risk-Based Capital Committee, has served on the Casualty Actuarial Society exam committee, and has served on the American Academy of Actuaries’ Mass Torts Subcommittee.
Ms. Cavanaugh is often requested to speak at industry events on topics including predictive analytics, trends in asbestos liability for P/C insurers, and regulatory capital standards.
