About María Paula Duque
Maria Paula Duque has more than 20 years experience in technology, telecommunications, and aeronautics companies. She has led complex regulatory processes, sales teams, public and private partnerships, institutional relations, stakeholder, crisis management, and sustainability.
During Mrs. Duque's career, she has been part of leadership teams that have led transformation in different companies and industries, where she generated new ideas, strategic planning processes, new business models, products, or services. She is recognized in the market for her experience in commercial and government relations management and digital transformation.
During the last five years, Mrs. Duque was the Senior VP Strategic Relations & Chief Customer Experience of the Colombian Airline, Avianca. Her role was to structure the customer experience, customer onboarding, and act as the voice of customer loyalty. During her tenure, she developed customer profiles and personalization of the customer's journeys in analog and digital. She used the customer's voice to make specific and progressive actions to improve critical customer processes. Because of her efforts, customer relations were improved. Along with key stakeholders, she also led improvements to crisis management strategies and Avianca's reputation and sustainability strategy.
For 12 years, Mrs. Duque was public sector lead for Microsoft's Andean Region and its Colombia branch that developed government transformational deals. She assisted critical customer migrations to the cloud while increasing customer satisfaction. She designed strategies for social programs as Partners In learning (PIL) and led outreach to local and regional governments. As an architect and influencer of subsidiary networks and critical stakeholders, she positioned Microsoft as a trusted advisor of the public and private sectors.
During the 12+ years Mrs. Duque worked in the telecommunication sector, she served as a regulatory counselor and Legal VP for various local and national companies. When she was a Deputy Minister she invested 112 billion pesos into different social investment plans. She also worked to improve the level of service of the social communication sector in rural areas. She created the ¨communication for peace¨ program and increased the coverage in critical roads of the country.
Mrs. Duque holds a B.S. degree in law from Los Andes University, a Master of Communication Management from Strathclyde University, and an M.B.A. from Inalde in Bogota. She is an active promoter of Women in leadership, founder of Women In TIC Colombia, member of Women in Connection, and she is the founder of the 30% club Colombia Chapter.
