Susana Esteban

Susana Esteban is a world-renowned expert in blockchain, crypto assets, decentralized finance (“DeFi”), non-fungible tokens (“NFTs”), Web3 and the metaverse. Throughout her career, Susana has advised clients primarily in the finance sector, as well as in retail, supply chain, healthcare, insurance and real estate, amongst others.

Susana’s diverse, hands-on experience enables her to provide clients with strategic guidance in digital assets, underpinned by practical solutions which can be operationalized for enterprises. She sees the innovation, can pinpoint the disruption in their industry, perform technical and operational assessments and risk management, develop Tokenomic models and lead the implementation of blockchain technology. She has experience in creating tokens and NFTs, defining utility and life-cycle models and leading the deployment and instruction of smart-contracts. Susana regularly develops go-to-market strategies for the metaverse, including X-2-Earn models.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Susana founded and led an independent advisory firm specializing in blockchain and digital assets in 2015. She is also a founding member of the International Association of Trusted Blockchain Applications (“INATBA”) and the Oxford Blockchain Foundation. She is a globally recognized leader in the blockchain and digital assets space and has spoken in more than 70 conferences and podcasts, due to her unique expertise and depth in the industry. Susana has held previous leadership roles in various industries across Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK. Additionally, she is fluent in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.

Susana has designed white paper and Tokenomic models for numerous projects, including for decentralized autonomous organizations (“DAOs”) in the fintech, gaming, supply chains and telecom, media and technology (“TMT”) industries, amongst others. She has also developed strategy for brand-based NFTs with business model creation in the media, retail and gaming industries, including Play2Earn and the development of X-2-Earn. In addition, Susana has created bespoke incentive-based business models and has developed metaverse and NFT strategies for entertainment, technology and retail clients.

Since 2024, Susana is serving on the expert panel of the Digital Euro Association at the European level.

Relevant Experience:

• Provided key cryptocurrency expertise, industry research and asset tracing in support of an unsecured creditor committee in one of the largest bankruptcy matters in the industry
• Directed digital transformation for a financial services firm; integrated blockchain technology with a focus on risk and privacy management
• Delivered market intelligence and strategic advice for global expansion to a major crypto derivatives exchange
• Led post-investment due diligence, encompassing compliance, Tokenomics and ownership structure analysis
• Designed partner ecosystem strategy and developed a performance improvement plan
• Worked closely with developers to design and implement end-to-end solutions to manage digital assets; included issuing new tokens, the deployment of smart contracts and NFTs and the tokenization of assets
• Led a pilot project tokenizing the first real estate in the UK on blockchain
