About Alan
Alan Wright is a leader in FTI Consulting’s Transactions practice. Alan has broad experience guiding management teams and private equity sponsors through their most critical initiatives, whether it be in moments of distress, growth or transformation. He specializes in helping organizations connect their human capital agenda to their strategic priorities, reducing risk, preserving value or accelerating financial and operational performance along the way.
Alan is known specifically for his expertise in organization design, systems and technology, functional operating model design, process improvement and employee rewards program design (compensation and benefits). His broad experience combined with his specialized knowledge of human capital issues enables him to cut across different business contexts and design bespoke solutions for clients that are actionable and result oriented.
Alan has significant experience in both corporate and consulting roles and has worked primarily within the Telecom, Media and Technology (“TMT”), Financial Services, Manufacturing and Healthcare sectors. Prior to his current role at FTI Consulting, Alan worked at another global professional services firm in their management consulting practice focused on large corporate transformation and M&A, and prior to that held several internal corporate positions.
Relevant Experience:
- Assisted a $7 billion distressed healthcare company looking to unwind their unprofitable business units to become a focused $3 billion go-forward business, including talent mapping to the business units, talent selection and retention and severance design, guiding the organization through the reduction in force process and helping the company navigate operational, legal and reputational risks
- Led the HR workstream of a $11 billion global transaction in the energy tech space, overseeing the buy-side merger integration, which included navigating employment transfers, systems integration, and total rewards program harmonization for approximately 3,000 employees across 35 countries
- Led the HR transformation of a global marketing and procurement business, helping the company develop a new, global target operating model, which included developing a business case to make investments in new capabilities and offsetting those investments by cost reductions in other areas of the function; led the execution and transition to the new operating model, which included overseeing enhancements to technology platforms and stand-up of global shared service capabilities
- Led a cost optimization program for a national baked goods producer and marketer, identifying and validating approximately $55 million in run-rate cost savings across both labor and non-labor spend categories across eight functional areas in an eight-week period
- Advised a strategic buyer on the purchase of a global specialty manufacturing business from a large EU-based corporation, including leading due diligence, transaction services agreement negotiations and execution of integration and stand-up activities (employment transfer, systems integration and benefits harmonization)
