Andrew Hinkelman focuses on corporate finance, business recovery and restructuring, performance improvement, sell-and-buy-side due diligence, carve-outs, business plan development, complex credit negotiations and wind-down and estate management services. Mr. Hinkelman has over 25 years of expertise, serving as a financial advisor to corporations, creditors, equity owners and directors of performing and underperforming companies. Additionally, Mr. Hinkelman has extensive Chief Restructuring Officer (“CRO”), Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and Chief Executive Officer experience.
Mr. Hinkelman’s clients have included both public and private companies ranging in size from $100 million to more than $10 billion in assets and liabilities. He has extensive experience in various industries; including Technology (software, hardware and semiconductors), healthcare, consumer products, retail, restaurant, real estate, construction, hospitality, distribution, food processing, agriculture and professional services, among others. Mr. Hinkelman has led over 20 software transaction advisory engagements which have included performance improvement services, quality of earnings analysis, deal structuring and negotiation, business plan review, carve-out services and sell side due diligence on behalf of lenders and private equity firms. Services have included in-depth review of company financial statements, analysis of revenue and cost centers, operations, management and proposed financing structures. He has assisted both strategic and financial buyers throughout the deal continuum. His efforts have included identification of potential targets, due diligence, contract structuring and negotiations and transition planning.
Mr. Hinkelman has served as the CRO at numerous companies. The following are selected CRO engagements: Professional Financial Inc., Promise Healthcare; Adeptus Health; Vertellus Specialties; IMRIS, middle market medical device company; Fairfield Residential LLC, one of the United States’ largest and most successful multifamily developers and managers; Trident Micro Systems, Inc., a global manufacturer of semiconductor solutions for digital televisions and set-top boxes; and Classic Party Rentals. His responsibilities included the development and implementation of restructuring plans, lender and creditor negotiations, day-to-day supervision of the accounting and finance departments and management of all lender and restructuring requirements.
Mr. Hinkelman also has extensive experience acting as an interim CFO. He was interim CFO of AKQA, Inc, where his responsibilities included cash forecasting and management of working capital, day-to-day supervision of accounting and finance departments, management of reporting requirements to sponsors and lenders, developing operating metric report packages and administration of all back-office functions. He has had extensive experience as financial advisor including with SK Foods and Quik-to-Fix Foods.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hinkelman was a Managing Director in the U.S. division of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (“PwC”) Business Recovery Services practice. At PwC, Mr. Hinkelman served as a financial advisor to companies, secured and unsecured creditors and equity holders, where he advised on bankruptcies, out-of-court restructurings and financing alternatives. Prior to that, Mr. Hinkelman spent three years working as a Senior Audit and Tax Consultant for Pannell Kerr Forrester and Sieler Company.
