Badar Nadeem

Badar Nadeem is a Senior Director in FTI Consulting’s E-Discovery & Managed Review practice in Dubai, where he partners with in-house and outside counsel, as well as subject matter experts in construction, financial crime compliance and forensic accounting to resolve complex data challenges for clients. Badar is an innovative practitioner with a focus on delivering technology and AI-driven end-to-end solutions in the litigation, investigations, regulatory, compliance and remediation spaces for corporates and financial institutions.

Badar has managed several large-scale data-driven cases for corporate clients and financial institutions across the UK, the United States, Switzerland and the Middle East. He has a track record of implementing and automating auditable processes by leveraging his technical expertise.

Badar is acutely aware of the pain points large organisations face when it comes to understanding, managing and analysing their data. Using process- and technology-driven solutions, he has helped clients efficiently overcome such issues in various domains, including data subject access requests (“DSARs”), intellectual property (“IP”) theft, financial crime prevention, fraud investigations and regulatory second requests in merger cases.

In order to deliver effective solutions, Badar takes the time to understand the nuances in compliance obligations specific to his clients, including the differences between organisational policy and regulatory affairs, and works closely with clients with the end goal in mind.

Badar’s areas of expertise include technology implementation, AI solutions, data visualisation, data migrations, investigations and reporting. Through his experience, he has gained insights into key financial services issues, such as loan restructuring, the Dodd-Frank reforms, cross-border sanctions, anti-money laundering (“AML”) requirements and know-your-customer (“KYC”) obligations. Badar has extensive experience in mobilising teams and workflows for complex data types, such as voice, chat and nuanced databases. In addition to his e-discovery and data analytics expertise, Badar also has experience in overseeing and managing forensic data collections from various structured and unstructed data sources.

Relevant Experience:

• Led the e-discovery workstream in relation to a high-profile, cross-border sanctions investigation involving the U.S. government and a bank’s structured and unstructured data spanning 10 years
• Led the technology and workflow implementation for a multinational financial institution in relation to a KYC remediation exercise of 1000 customers
• Oversaw all proceedings of a sensitive IP theft investigation involving senior management; provided significant time and cost savings by making expert use of AI-driven natural language processing to collate the relevant evidence in just three weeks
• Managed the collections and e-discovery workstream for a Kuwaiti conglomerate in response to a legal proceeding, successfully culling 98% of the data without human review in order to minimize cost and time spent
