About Carl
Carl Ott is a Managing Director in the Telecom, Media and Technology (“TMT”) practice and is based in New York. Carl provides both performing and underperforming companies in the technology and software sectors with solutions that drive growth, enable strategic business transformation and unlock operational efficiency improvements.
With a track record of creating sustainable value for corporate clients and private equity, Carl excels in bridging the gap between strategic vision and tactical implementation, working closely with top leadership teams. Carl has more than 10 years of combined experience in management consulting and corporate strategy and operations roles in the Americas and Europe.
Carl effectively leverages his project management experience, hands-on mentality, analytical reasoning and international experience to quickly and effectively overcome business challenges and uncover improvement opportunities.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Carl spent several years working in industry as part of the strategy and operations team of an investment bank in Latin America, after which he transitioned into management consulting as a generalist before specializing in the technology sector within TMT.
Carl holds a B.S. and M.S. in Economics from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany.

- Conducted comprehensive business review and built scenarios for achieving EBITDA breakeven for venture capital-backed security software company, identified more than $25 million in run-rate savings and $10 million in additional topline opportunities
- Assessed customer profiles, product positioning and pricing for a global SaaS company to define differentiated product value proposition and unlock more than $15 million in incremental revenue opportunities
- Streamlined product strategy, defined strategic growth areas and re-allocated R&D capital across highest return on investment opportunities to achieve $25 million EBITDA uplift for a global communication cloud software provider
- Defined product strategy for a $800 million SaaS company, implementing a revamped product roadmap, and optimizing research and development (“R&D”) capital allocation and driving a 15% increase in three-year revenue from organic growth
- Performed multiple cost transformation and post merger synergy realization engagements for software, technology and network infrastructure companies, resulting in more than $100 million in cost reductions
