About Casey
Casey Stenzel’s business experience and expertise spans more than 30 years of forensic accounting, litigation consulting, expert witness testimony, business consulting and post-merger integrations. Mr. Stenzel served as a private equity chief financial officer (“CFO”) for over a decade, with an emphasis on software development, program management, IT and healthcare staffing companies. In addition, Mr. Stenzel has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”), including completed deals at Microsoft (four), Nordstrom, Clearwire and private equity transactions (12). At FTI Consulting, Mr. Stenzel leverages his long-term business connections to focus on both business development efforts in the Seattle and Portland markets, as well as his own client projects.
Mr. Stenzel has led multiple engagements across the country as a leader in major construction projects, with particular expertise on major tunnel construction, commercial litigation, expert witness testimony and extensive M&A experience while at Arthur Andersen, KPMG and Microsoft. He was recognized as Microsoft’s Hero & Key Achiever of the Year in 2009.
As the CFO of a startup in 2012, Mr. Stenzel harnessed important lessons learned during his previous 20 years in accounting and finance roles to lead and execute on major business initiatives. In 2021, Mr. Stenzel spearheaded a masterclass podcast series focused on the basics of M&A topics and featuring senior Microsoft leaders and local luminaries. In sum, Mr. Stenzel has embraced opportunities throughout his career in line with his “business athlete” ethos, an integrated theory of performance management that addresses the body, the emotions, the mind and the spirit, that propels him to this day.
Mr. Stenzel’s first M&A opportunity was the purchase of Façonnable S.A., a private French fashion brand, acquired by major retailer Nordstrom in a deal valued at more than $300 million. This led to an opportune project involving a post-merger integration project that became Royal Vopak (Netherlands), which involved the two largest chemical distribution companies in the world. In 2007, he contributed to Craig McCaw’s Clearwire Inc. successfully raising $500 million in capital. As a CFO, Mr. Stenzel was integral to a private equity sale in 2022 valued at $135 million involving five entities.
