Ching helps clients navigate complex legal and business issues by applying deep expertise in finance, economics and econometrics. For every client engagement, Ching approaches with curiosity, intellectual integrity and creativity. She builds support teams tailored to each project to ensure they receive thoughtful, highly dedicated and customized attention. She has managed and delivered expert consulting services in intricate litigation and disputes, particularly those related to financial markets and instruments. She supports counsel and testifying experts through every phase: pre-suit consulting, investigations, expert reports, arbitration hearings and trials. Ching has worked extensively with attorneys at top law firms in the United States, UK, Canada and Switzerland. Her work covers various industries, with an emphasis on investment funds, broker-dealers and other financial institutions.
More recently, Ching has consulted clients on a range of complex financial matters. She has assessed the valuation and damages of cryptocurrencies, analyzed the price impact of breached barrier options and evaluated an engineered credit default swaps strategy. Her work includes analyzing the market landscape of foreign exchange non-deliverable forwards and critiquing the modeling and stress test scenarios for collateralized loan obligations (“CLOs”). Ching has provided economic and statistical analysis to estimate the value of current and future talc-related cancer claims and advised companies on cash reserves for contingent liabilities from buyback guarantees. Expert reports named her a key contributor for a trade secret case at the London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”), which culminated in two weeks of her supporting experts and legal teams during the hearing.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ching was a Vice President at Analysis Group, where she supported academic and industry experts in delivering expert testimonies. Her work included analyzing hedge funds’ trading and hedging strategies; assessing alleged market manipulation trades; evaluating risk management relating to structured finance products in large financial institutions; estimating the impacts of corporate disclosures on stock price; evaluating the economic reasonableness of the investment options for employee retirement savings plans; valuing financial assets and businesses; and estimating damages in securities fraud and breach of contract matters.
Ching holds a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Economics from National Taiwan University, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
