About Dan
Dan Wikel specializes in advising clients on corporate turnarounds and restructurings, lender workout situations, transactions, business assessments and capital raises. Mr. Wikel has significant experience in managing both middle-market and large restructuring matters, both in-court and out-of-court.
Mr. Wikel’s financial and operational expertise spans strategic planning, capital advisory, investment analysis and operational improvement through the identification of revenue enhancements and cost improvements. He has served as a financial advisor, interim manager, executive and expert witness to companies in various industries, including aerospace and airlines, transportation, logistics and distribution, retail and consumer products, financial services and payroll services. Mr. Wikel also has experience in construction, contractual and project-based firms, modular home building, packaging and forest products, and general manufacturing and related operations.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wikel was a founding member of Huron Consulting Group in 2002 and led the Midwest office through 2020. Before Huron Consulting Group, Mr. Wikel was a member of Arthur Andersen’s Corporate Restructuring practice. Preceding this role, he led the financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”) group at Zenith Electronics Corporation and was involved in the turnaround, bankruptcy and sale of the business to LG Group. Mr. Wikel also held various financial positions with the Tenneco Inc. organization, including at J.I. Case and Packaging Corporation of America (“PCA”). Starting his career, he worked in the audit practice of KPMG.
A representative list of Mr. Wikel’s engagement experience includes providing advisory services to and working with constituents involved with AcuSport; Air Jamaica; Aloha Airlines; Allen Systems Group; Argo Turboserve Corporation; Boomerang Tube; Delta Air Lines; Hawaiian Air; IOIPay/Interlogic; Great Lakes Aviation; Los Angeles Airport Authority (“LAX”); Nephron Pharmaceuticals; NS8, Inc (Cyber Litigation); Regis Corporation; Rochester Drug Corporation; Silver Airways; SmileDirectClub; VAS Aero; UniGroup; United Fixtures-Interlake; United Airlines; Zachry Holdings; and Zenefits.
Relevant Experience:
- Served as Independent Director to two logistics companies, both within the Saybrook Capital portfolio
- Led the United Airlines Holdings, Delta Air Lines, Solutia Corporation and Resolute (AbitibiBowater) bankruptcy cases; worked closely with the company’s investment bankers and attorneys
- Served as advisor to publicly held companies and led the successful refinancing and recapitalization processes, including for Federal Signal Corporation and OrthoPediatrics Corporation
- Served as Independent Director to Capstone Nutrition, the fourth largest supplement contract manufacturer in the vitamins, minerals and supplements (“VMS”) industry and a Medley Capital and Benefit Street portfolio company
